Shower or Tub Squeeling?
February 25, 2014
Tip of the week #4
Have you ever had that annoying high pitched squeal that comes from your shower or tub?
The culprits are almost always either the tub spout diverter or the valve cartridge.
The tub spout is where the water comes out when you take a bath and usually has a diverter that is pulled up, if you have a shower head, to divert the water to the shower head from the tub spout.
The valve cartridge is a small cylinder that controls the flow of hot and cold water to the fixture.
Each of these have rubber seals that can wear out over time and cause squealing or other undesirable noises.
The good news is that they are generally very easy to replace. We would recommend you have a plumber do this for you.
