Benefits of Buying a Misting System

Gearing up for the Arizona summer may have you thinking of creative ways to stay cool outside. You recollect all your attempts from previous years, like tying the garden hose to a tree branch for a makeshift sprinkler system.

If you are brainstorming new ideas, that means the old ones didn't work. That's okay. We're here to help, and we think we have the perfect solution: Misting Systems.

Yes, misting systems, like the ones you see in the grocery store keeping fresh produce cooled. Only the misting system built for the outdoor environment at your home is bigger, better, and has many more benefits. Some of these are listed below.

Pressure Options

Misting systems today have three different pressure options: low, medium, and high. Low pressure misting is the simplest, least expensive model. It doesn't even require a pump. No pump means the misting system can run off conventional water sources.

They may work best for watering plants or to cool you off in tiny outdoor areas since the misting part can only travel.

If you are looking for a finer mist covering a broader area, the medium pressure mister should be considered. You still don't need a pump, but if you have a higher water pressure source, this is the model to use.

In the case of misting systems, bigger is better. The high-pressure models come with a pump and give you the finest spray. It’s so fine that the water usually evaporates before it hits your skin. The tiny drops almost look like fog. And when you are near it, you will notice the temperature drops significantly.

Multi-Functional

Misting systems are not just for watering plants or cooling off on a hot day. Landscape designers are incorporating them into projects for homeowners. It’s called “mistscaping." Misters can be set to a timer, so the homeowner doesn't have to remember to water individual trees, plants, and shrubs. In Arizona, this is a big deal since our heat index rises significantly in the summer.

Misting systems extend your living space, allowing you to enjoy the outdoors even on scorching Arizona days as they lower the temperature in your outdoor living space significantly. They also create an inviting space for when you have visitors.

Misting systems are designed so that the spray it produces is too strong for insects and pests to fly through. Therefore, it becomes a repellant for mosquitos, flies, and gnats.

The water droplets being forced through the nozzles do a great job of pulling pollen, allergens, and dust out of the air, so you aren't affected by contaminants. This means those with seasonal allergies may have a more enjoyable time outdoors. If you find the fine mist is not enough to keep pests away, you can spray an insecticide through your mister rather than water to provide a better repellent.

Finally, they can be installed just about anywhere, from your home to your office.

Saves Money

Research was collected and compared to air conditioning and misting systems. It was found that the amount of electricity needed to run an air conditioner (and converted to gallons of water) equaled around 75 gallons of water per hour. A standard base model misting system was found to use about 16 gallons of water per hour.

Some homeowners use their misting system to cool their roof, which in turn cools their home and reduces energy use.

Easy Installation and Maintenance

If you are an expert DIYer and need to cover a standard space, you may want to purchase a kit from your local Phoenix plumbing company.

If the space you want to mist is not standard, you may want to hire your local plumber to help you with the install. This is when you can get creative. You can add or take away nozzles, curve the pipes, or make it one big portable system you can place in different locations, depending on the task.

Fans Can Extend Misting

The larger the area you want to mist, the more help your mister may need to cool it down. There are times that even if you wrap your entire perimeter in a misting system, the center of the area does not cool down.

You can only add so many nozzles and piping links. Plumbers in Arizona understand just how hot it can get in Arizona and want to help you cool the entire area. Therefore, they recommend adding a misting fan to your system.

The fan picks up where the mister stops, carrying the fine water particles further into your space.

Customized Cost

Working with a plumbing company, like Whitton plumbing, allows you to customize your misting system based on your budget and your needs. There won't be any surprise costs.

The cost of a mister varies based on the type of pressure, location of the system, size of the system, irregular design features, number of nozzles, and whether you will need extra tubing.
